During this period, she has represented men and women, married and unmarried, who were parties to different types of family law matters including divorce, legitimation, paternity, child support, modification, and enforcement actions. Throughout her practice, Sheri has relied upon mediation as a tool to resolve her clients’ cases outside of the courtroom.
Sheri was recognized in 2006 & 2007 as a Super Lawyers® Georgia Rising Star, in 2013 & 2015 as a Georgia Trend Legal Elite, and in 2018 through 2022 as among the Georgia Super Lawyers®. Sheri has lectured to other members of the State Bar of Georgia and nationally on issues related to family law, custody, social media discovery and admissibility, prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements and financial settlements. In addition to representing parties to a family law dispute, Sheri is frequently appointed to represent the best interests of children involved in such disputes as a Guardian ad litem.
Sheri received her J.D. from Georgia State University in 1997, and a B.A. in History in 1990. Sheri has been licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia since 1997 and in the state of California since 2005.

Mediation emphasizes party self-determination and self-empowerment, where litigation requires parties to submit decision-making about their lives and their unique story to a judge or a jury. In my years of experience, resolution by agreement, as opposed to trial by judge or jury, provides couples and families with much better long-term outcomes and satisfaction."
Sheri Lake, Attorney & Mediator
SPLIT is a deeply personal film made in collaboration with children aged 6-12, exploring the often frightening and always life altering separation of their parents.
SPLIT gives us the children's perspective on divorce... no adults, no experts… just kids speaking the powerful truth of what is on their minds and in their hearts. Their wisdom, candor, and humor will give courage to other children, and encourage parents to make better choices as they move through divorce.
